Q. You wrote this one with Rab Armour, how did it come about ?
HB. Well... We have always covered “Jackson” and I think Rab’s idea was to do our own take on that type of ‘belt it out’ tune. He’d had the chorus and he sent it over. The lyrics then came quite easily for me, I just invoked an angry woman response. Not that I’m an angry woman... obviously...

Q. Do you enjoy writing in collaboration?
HB. Yep, it was good. We’ve spent a lot of time together over the years and can play around with tunes and ideas and know each other well enough to be able to comfortably critique.

Q. Would you say that this is the song on the album that is most instantly recognisable as the Hellfires, in that it provides a traceable link back to previous albums Songs FFS and Wyoming Town Hall ?
HB. Hmm... that’s a tricky one... will need to collaborate with my fellow band mates on that one... It’s definitely evocative of that old country style and has a catchy upbeat hook that gets those toes a tappin’. We like to keep our audience moving.
RA. Yes , my influence was “Jackson” , Helen’s live performance on that brings out the best in her performance and I wanted to try to recreate that vibe so came up with the concept of Rovin’ Eyes that we could work on in a Brill Building style. I like Helen’s songwriting ( See “Moving” on our first album “Wyoming Town Hall”) and hoped that she would bring a feistiness to the lyric. It worked
