Q. This song seems to be built around the infectious keyboard riff - what came first, words or music?
WB. Music definitely. I was messing about on the piano with different chords and the first two chords went well together and it expanded from there. It took me about a year to get lyrics that fitted the song.

Q. Despite (or perhaps as a result of) the floaty keys, sparse but prominent drums and sax here there’s an overall brooding eeriness about this song ...
WB. The subject matter is really about someone slowly disappearing from your life so we've succeeded if it's got a sombre feel to it.
